Order of the Engineer Ceremony

  • When: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Where: TBD
  • RSVP: TBD

Watson College will induct graduating senior engineering majors and engineering graduate students into the Order of the Engineer.

The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the U.S. to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer. The Order is not a membership organization; there are never any meetings to attend or dues to pay.

The Engineer’s Ring is a stainless steel ring, worn on the fifth finger of the working hand by engineers who have accepted the Obligation of an Engineer in a ring ceremony. Send the ring size for the fifth finger of your working hand (that’s the pinkie finger of the hand you write with). To find your ring size, you can print the ring sizer on at 100% or contact Jason Gilbert (gilbert@binghamton.edu) to try on sample rings.

The Broome Area Chapter of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers extends an invitation to the 2026 Engineers Week Dinner.

At the banquet, organizers would love for individual students or groups of Watson students (i.e. capstone group, student organizations, research group, etc.) to showcase their work. This would be a great networking opportunity to interact with local industry professionals. If interested, email Frank Roma, at froma@aol.com (from the NYSSPE organization).
